Technical production process
The function layers of CIS solar cells are applied to a supporting band one after another. In the pilot plant we use an about 4 cm wide supporting strip with a maximum length of about 2,000 m, which is wound into coils. This strip is continuously layered until the CIS solar strip is finished.
The basis of our solar cell concept is the use of technically simple and cost-effective production processes. We thus use for instance electroplating processes with very high material efficiency to produce the CIS semiconductor and dispense with a controlled environment.
Individual processes such as the production of the back contact and window layers cannot as yet be reproduced with non-vacuum processes from the technical viewpoint. We thus use the classic sputtering technology. In future we also intend using more cost-effective alternatives.
After the coating steps, the solar strip is covered with contact wires (grid) and cut into solar cells with different measurements (width 4 cm * length 5 - 60 cm) and efficiency as required.
