About 2 billion people live without access to an electricity network nowadays. The great advantage of photovoltaic systems is the decentralised electricity produced directly at the consumers’ homes in isolated regions.  The cost-intensive installation of grid systems is not necessary. In addition, no energy is lost as a result of long transport routes. For example, solar home systems in developing nations, which use solar electricity production for irrigations systems or signalling equipment but also holiday homes in Europe or the USA.
