Inexhaustible energy source
Each year the sun sends about 2,850 times more energy to the earth’s land area than the current global consumption level. (Source BSW / DLR).
The energy dice illustrates this connection and also presents the global inventories of fossil energy sources as a comparison.

The global energy demand could basically be covered by the current solar technology. A calculation of the DLR shows that even as much as 3.8 times more energy could be produced with solar cells. However, the present drawbacks are the high price of solar technology and the lack of availability.
