Growth

The photovoltaic market has grown rapidly in recent years. After a year of change (2009), the growth forecasts for the coming years remain positive. The industry is forecasting growth rates of more than 20 % per annum.

Long-term it is thinkable that global sales of solar plants will have increased ten times over by 2020.

The basis of the market growth are rising energy costs and the global target of reducing CO2 emissions, which makes the use of solar cells attractive in sunny regions (Southern Europe, USA, South America, Australia).

Direct market drivers are the subsidies for solar electricity and plants that have been set up in many countries on the basis of the German example (feed-in tariff law for renewable energy, renewable energy law).

Apart from the current market of grid-connected plants, we see an attractive application for photovoltaic systems to electrify remote villages and towns.
